When girl meets geek, the fur’s gonna fly.

Dewi Bleacke is a no-nonsense Prime Alpha wolf. As head Enforcer of the Targhee pack, she’s in charge of Florida. Her assignment is to kill a dirtbag who sold his daughter. She doesn’t expect to find her handsome, albeit geeky, soulmate in the process.

Dr. Heathcliff McKenzie Ethelbert lives a quiet, boring life. A professor at USF, he has no girlfriend, no car, and is a devout vegetarian. So when a mysterious woman with mocha eyes literally drags him out of his booth and then proceeds to have her way with him, it’s not his average night out. When she follows their sexy interlude by abducting him after killing a man, he suspects life has just taken a drastically odd turn.

Now Dewi, her partner Beck, and her surrogate father Badger, have to educate her new “grazer” mate on the ways of the Targhee wolves. “Ken” does his best to fit in. But an old killer lurks in the shadows--the wolf who murdered Dewi’s parents. Can she keep Ken safe, or will her mate prove to everyone that he’s a lot more than just Dewi Bleacke’s geek?

Excerpt:

The door opened into a large kitchen. He stood, stunned, as he looked around. Wide expanses of spotless granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and what appeared to be custom-made cherry cabinets. Someone with a lot of money and very good taste had designed this kitchen.

After setting his laptop case on the counter, she shrugged off her coat and hung it on one of a row of hooks by the door they’d just entered, where other jackets and coats were hung.

Then he spotted the gun on her hip. In his earlier shock, he realized he hadn’t actually seen it when they were in the bathroom. She’d undressed and dressed so quickly, he hadn’t noticed.

She watched him as she drew it, did something to it, and removed both the magazine and a chambered round. Laying them on the counter, she asked, “You ever handle a gun before?”

He shook his head.

She pointed at him. “Don’t. Touch. Not until after I have a chance to teach you.”

A sudden compulsion to leave the weapon alone washed over him. He’d thought about maybe trying to grab it, use it to make her give him her phone so he could call for help.

Not that he’d ever held a gun before or even knew where he was to ask for the police to rescue him, but now he couldn’t even think about touching it.

“Go ahead and try, if you think you can,” she called over her shoulder at him as she walked across the kitchen to the large fridge.

Taking her up on it, he found if he tried to step forward with the intent of grabbing the gun, he couldn’t.

She turned from the fridge with a carton of milk in her hand and a smile on her face. “You and I will get along just fine.” Then she screamed, startling him. “Badger!”

He flinched, then flinched again as an answering roar rumbled from somewhere upstairs. “Hold yer britches, kiddo. I’m comin’.”

He heard before he saw the large, squat man descend the stairs. His solid bulk seemed to make the whole house tremble as he grumbled under his breath all the way down to where they stood in the kitchen. His left eye was gone, the sunken lid crossed by a thick, gnarled, twisting scar that started above his eyebrow and descended nearly all the way to his chin.

A few inches shorter than him, but taller than the woman, the man looked him up and down. Wild, curly red hair liberally threaded with grey framed his stocky, grizzled face. His remaining eye, a bright crystalline blue, carefully looked him over with keen interest.

He spoke with a thick and distinctive Scottish brogue. “Eh, what’s this? This yer surprise?”

“Promise not to laugh?” she asked.

“I make no such promise, Dewi.” Well, at least he had a name to go by now. “Fess up.”

She took another drink from the carton. “He’s my mate,” she mumbled.

“He’s yer what?”

Her gaze fell to the floor as her face reddened. Seemed something could make her blush and crack her composure after all. “My mate,” she softly repeated.

The older man looked stunned as he stared at him, then back to her. “Claimed and all?” he finally asked.

He couldn’t stand them talking about him as if he wasn’t there. “What’s going on?” he asked, fully aware his voice bordered on a shrill, girlie shriek. “I’d like some answers!”

The man he assumed was named Badger pointed a finger at him. “Shut up. I’ll deal with ye in a minute.”

That boiled his blood. If he was going to die, he would show at least a little chutzpah before they took him out. Pulling himself up to his full height, he glared at them. “You two listen to me. I was minding my own business, eating dinner and working. Then I got abducted, raped, and forced to flee with a murderess. I deserve some answers!”

Badger stared at him before he burst out laughing and turned to her. “Ye already claimed him then, girlie?”

Her face turned a deeper shade of crimson as she nodded.

The man’s laughter roared out of him as he held on to the counter for support. “Holy Goddess, ye picked yerself a fine one, didn’t ye? And despite his scrawny looks, he does seem to have a right fine pair of bollocks hiding in there somewhere.”

“Now listen here—”

“Shut up!” both of them ordered. His mouth clamped shut, although he suspected based on what he’d already experienced that it had more to do with her command than Badger’s.

Badger scrubbed his face with his hand. “Well, what’s his name, girlie? Or are we calling him ‘Shut Up’ for life?”

Now beet red in the face, she mumbled, “We haven’t got that far yet.”

No thanks to you,” he thought, unable to voice it.

Her head snapped up as she glared at him. “I’m sorry you were at the right place at the wrong time, but would you rather me let a man who’d whore out his own daughter go free? Especially when he had three younger than her at home he planned to sell off, too? I had my orders.”

He glared at her.

She shoved the carton of milk back in the fridge and growled, “Fine. Say whatever you want.” She slammed the fridge door shut.

Badger cackled and turned back to him. “Well, laddie? What would ye have us call ye if ‘Shut Up’ ain’t to yer fancy?”

He took a deep breath. “My name is Heathcliff.”

Her eyes widened. “Fuck. Me. No way. Please, Goddess, tell me you’re busting my balls.”

“My mother loved Wuthering Heights. If you make a joke about the cartoon cat, I’ll…” Well, he’d already seen her kill a guy. “I’ll be really pissed off if you make a crack about the cat.”

That amused Badger immensely. “Heathcliff? Oh, lassie, I can’t wait for the next pack Muster.”

“Shut. Up,” she growled at him.

Badger grinned. “Not quite. So what’s yer full name, boyo? First, middle, and last.”

He’d go out with at least a little dignity. He threw back his shoulders. “Heathcliff McKenzie Ethelbert. Doctor,” he added, although that last part sounded a little lame, even to his ears.

She let out an audible groan and leaned over the counter, her head hung low. “Nooo.” It almost sounded like a mournful howl.

Obviously delighted, Badger slapped her on the back with a pleased cackle. “Well, Heathcliff McKenzie Ethelbert, let me formally introduce ye to yer mate here, Dellis Tadewi Bleacke.”

“Mate?”

Badger grinned. “Mate. Welcome to the Targhee pack, boyo.”

“Pack?” He felt his mind close to shattering. He decided to focus on the one thing he could comprehend and deal with. “Wait a minute. Your name’s Dellis, and you pick on me for Heathcliff?”

Her head snapped up. “You will call me Dewi. D-E-W-I.”

“Well, you can call me Heathcliff.”

“Oh, fuck me, no way in hell.” She straightened and turned to face him. “McKenzie, huh? I’ll call you Ken. I like Ken. I already have a cousin named Mac. No way in hell am I introducing you to my family as Heathcliff.”

Badger laughed again. “Peyton and Trent are gonna shit themselves.”

She glared at the older man and jabbed a finger at him. “Don’t you dare call them!”

He held up his hands. “No, no. I’d rather see the shock on their faces at the next Muster. This’ll be a scream.”

“If you can tell me what I’m supposed to call you,” Ken said, “why should I settle for Ken? Which I hate, by the way. And who says I’m staying here? And…what is this pack you keep talking about?” Maybe he shouldn’t have asked that last question, but he was more than a little curious.

Badger looked at Dewi. “Ye get to do the honors, young lady. He’s yer mate.”

She stared at him, those beautiful mocha eyes melting him. Despite the crazy situation he felt his cock stiffen in his pants. He shifted his position around the corner of the counter to conceal that fact.

Dewi’s eyebrow twitched, revealing her apparent amusement. Somehow, he knew she realized why he’d moved. “I’m an Alpha wolf shifter,” she said. “Targhee pack out of Idaho. I’m one of their Enforcers.”

“She’s a Prime Alpha, actually,” Badger chimed in. “Lone wolf. And not just one of their Enforcers. She’s the Head Enforcer. She’s too modest. Usually she don’t take to others very well. Count yerself lucky, boyo.”

“I don’t count myself lucky!” he yelled, near the end of his tether. “You people are crazy, and I want to go home!”

* * * *

Dewi sensed him drawing dangerously close to a mental breakdown. Despite her irritation and trying to wind herself down to settle her hunt instinct so she didn’t accidentally hurt her new mate, she stepped closer to him. She hated how he flinched away at first.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” she said, forcing her voice to stay soft and gentle. She reached up with her right hand and palmed his cheek, her eyes never leaving his.

He let out a soft moan as his eyes dropped closed. He nuzzled her hand with his lips.

“See?” she said. “It’s instinctive. We’re mated.”

“I don’t understand any of this.” He kissed her palm, setting off a flurry of desire in her core. She needed to quickly get some food in her—preferably really rare steak—and then she could take him upstairs and spend the night getting to know him better.

Much better.

“You don’t have to understand any of it. I’m a shape-shifter. Wolf pack. We’re not just legend. I’m sorry about how this happened, but I couldn’t let you get away when I found you.”

“Wolves mate for life,” Badger chimed in. “When they find their mate, if the person’s not already taken, they claim them. Especially a Prime Alpha like Dewi here.”

She felt Ken’s resistance—she refused to call him Heathcliff—drain from him as his lips traced her palm. He grabbed her hand and held it pressed to his mouth so he could kiss and lick her flesh. “Don’t worry,” she assured him. “We’re going to spend the next couple of weeks right here getting to know each other. And I’ll have plenty of time to tell you everything.”

“I can’t,” he gasped without opening his eyes.

“What do you mean, you can’t?”

“I’ve got to work.” He finally opened his eyes. “I’ve got classes to teach Monday morning and papers I haven’t graded yet.”

Badger cackled. She shot him a dark look. “I think I’m gonna have to re-estimate him,” Badger joked. “He’s got a bigger set on him than he looks.”

“Shut up,” she said.

“Oh, no ye don’t, girlie,” he teased. “Little Miss I-Don’t-Need-A-Mate has found her match. Despite his looks, I have a feeling he’s gonna teach ye a thing or two. Mebbe give ye a run for yer money.”

If she leaned in and kissed Ken’s delicious lips, she would end up ripping his clothes off and fucking him right there on the kitchen floor despite Badger’s presence. Instead, she captured his hand and gently squeezed before letting go. She was painfully aware of how fragile his fingers felt in hers despite the fact that he was a man with a little substance to him.

“I have to eat dinner,” she explained. “If I don’t, we’re going to have a serious problem. I’m sure you’ll probably want something, too, since I interrupted yours.” She stepped away even as Badger dove for the fridge and pulled out a couple of huge steaks from the ready supply he kept for her.

“How ye want yers, Ken?” he asked.

She didn’t miss his sarcasm.

Ken blinked. “Um, no. No thank you. I’ll just have a salad.”

Her mouth watered at the sight of the steaks as Badger fired up the gas grill built into the stove top. He knew she needed to eat to help sate her urges after a hunt, especially when she made a kill. “No, you have to eat,” she said. “Trust me. You’ll need more than salad for the night ahead of us.”

He slid onto a stool in front of the counter. “No, thank you. I don’t eat steaks.”

She sensed Badger turn to look at him. “Well, what do you eat?” he asked.

“I don’t eat meat.”

“Ye what?” She winced as she heard the laughter threatening to break through Badger’s voice again.

“I don’t eat meat,” Ken said. “I’m a lacto-ovo-vegetarian. I eat dairy and eggs. Every once in a while I’ll eat fish and shellfish, but that’s the only meat I eat.”

She grimaced, her shoulders tensing. Aaaand here it comes…

Badger burst out into gales of laughter. “Let me get this straight. Yer a vegetarian?”

Ken nodded.

“Ye don’t eat red meat?”

“No. Why?”

Badger turned to her. His grin split his ruined face from ear to ear. “Oh, Dewi, please, ye got to let me be there when ye break this to yer brothers! Their big, bad Prime Alpha baby sister is now mated to a grazer!”

Adult Excerpt: "Cross Country Chaos"

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Many of you are familiar with my "wild child" alter ego, Tymber Dalton. Steamy stories that don't sacrifice plot for passion.

I've got more Tymber Dalton stories in the pipe, but if you're anxious to read more of my books while waiting for Tymber's next release, you might want to try "Cross Country Chaos," written under my own name. It was also an EPIC contest finalist!

http://www.bookstrand.com/cross-country-chaos

What do you get when you mix a heroine scared to open up her heart with a hero who's -- literally -- hell on wheels? You get "Cross Country Chaos." As the mom of a boy who is a wheelchair athlete, I got the idea for the book while I really WAS on a "chaotic" cross country trip with my son to get him to his national wheelchair sports competition.

If you like stories with real characters, you'll enjoy this book. It's got passion, humor, and action. Ever see the movie "Murderball?" Well, if you did, you'll love this book. (If you didn't, go put it on your Netflix queue and read this book while you're waiting! *LOL*)

Thanks!

Divorced mom Kelly Alexander wants younger son, Denny–in a wheelchair due to spina bifida–to participate in sports. Kelly finds out about the Junior National Disability Games, but they're in Spokane, Washington, a continent away from her Florida home. She's clueless about what to do next.

Mart Rawlings is a single, handsome wheelchair athlete who volunteers to coach Denny and helps him qualify–and falls hard for Kelly. But past heartache over her cheating ex fuels Kelly's reluctance to get personally involved with him.

Kelly must survive a grueling cross country drive to Nationals with her sons and mother, but more importantly, can she make herself take a chance on love?

Cross Country Chaos is a funny, passionate, and at times cringingly honest story of healing broken hearts, rebuilding trust, finding love in unexpected places, and realizing sometimes the greatest disability is between a person's ears, not their body.

---
Excerpt:

They text-messaged back and forth all week and talked several times on the phone. By the time Mart picked Kelly up Friday, she knew how she wanted to spend the night--in his arms.

He took her to an upscale restaurant in downtown Sarasota.

"Have you ever been married?" she asked.

He nodded, taking a sip of his tea. "Once. Just out of college. It didn't work out. We divorced after a year."

"I'm sorry."

He shrugged. "I was traveling a lot with the team. I think she was more in love with the idea of being a caretaker than being my partner. Once we were married, she realized I didn't need her as much as she thought I would. I think it was a blow to her ego. She couldn't understand I wanted her to be my wife, not my nurse."

"Really?"

"I didn't know it then, but there are people who have to take care of someone to feel important about themselves. And there are people attracted to people in chairs because they're in chairs, like some people prefer blondes or breasts or whatever."

"That's creepy."

"Tell me about it. That's one of the things I loved about you from the minute I met you. You don't pity me or feel sorry for me for being in a chair."

"Should I?"

He met her gaze. "No. That's my point." He was quiet for a moment. "It shocked her on our wedding night when I wanted to have sex."

Kelly choked and held her napkin to her mouth to keep from spraying iced tea all over the table.

Mart laughed. "You okay?"

She nodded. "You caught me off guard."

"Which part?"

"The whole comment. It wasn't a conversation you had before the wedding?"

"I wasn't a virgin. She made it clear she didn't believe in premarital sex, and I respected that. I think her problem was she didn't believe in sex at all, and that was one reason she wanted to be with me. She didn't think I could have sex. I assumed we would."

"Again, this wasn't a subject you discussed before you got married?" Kelly had been curious. Well, more than curious. Especially after what she'd felt in his lap the other night.

And considering how she hoped they'd spend the night together.

"I was young. I don't think she realized I was serious. Am I freaking you out?"

She shook her head and took a sip of water to clear her throat. "No. I'll admit, I was wondering."

"Think about Denny's level of function."

Just because some functions were impaired didn't mean others were. Denny's urologist already warned her she'd have normal motherly concerns when Denny hit his teen years. The common misconception was everything from the level of defect or injury down was completely dead. In reality, unless the spinal cord was severed, that was rarely the case.

"I'm nearly the same way," Mart continued, "an incomplete paraplegic. Only when I was injured, it was almost forty years ago. I might have walked with the bracing and technology we have today. But they assumed since I couldn't feel or move my legs, that was it. My spinal cord wasn't severed in the accident. There was a lot of nerve damage, mostly on one side. The damage was limited to motor control and skin sensation from upper thigh down. Any higher, or a more complete injury, I wouldn't have anything. I have no illusions how damned lucky I am. Fortunately, all my plumbing works." He winked.

"Is there a polite way to ask, 'By the way, what can I expect from you in bed tonight?'" she said.

He laughed. "You're the first woman I've met in a long time I feel I can have an honest conversation with."

"Honesty is something I didn't get a lot of in my marriage."

"Okay, so that's the wrong word. I mean I don't have to worry about shocking you. There's always that first awkward dancing around the issue. I tried talking about it on the first date once."

"How'd that work out?"

"It didn't. I think she thought I was a sex fiend. But the women I dated before her, they steered clear of the topic like it was radioactive until I brought it up."

"My ex stopped sleeping with me when he started sleeping with a bunch of other women. He claimed I didn't pay him enough attention. His problem was I didn't wait on him hand and foot after Denny was born."

"He sounds like a stupid man."

"I didn't used to think so. My opinion has changed a lot over the years."

"Did you ever want to have more kids?"

She shook her head. "Not with David." She paused. "I wouldn't have minded having another. Before I found out about him. You?"

He looked down. "I've always wanted to have kids. Up till now, I hadn't found the right woman." He looked at her.

She didn't know how to respond, so she didn't try to fill the silence.

"What are your feelings?" he finally asked.

"I don't know. I hadn't thought about it. After David, I was more worried about being a single mom than a mother-to-be."

"Is that something you might want?"

The room closed in around her, stifling. Not in a bad way, but she was afraid to let her heart get too far ahead of reality. "I don't know. We'd have to discuss it." She talked to the elephant sitting in the corner instead of pretending it wasn't there.

"Is it something you might consider?"

"I can't promise you I'd agree to it." She didn't want to ask but had to know. "Is it a deal-breaker?"

"No. It's just..." He searched for the right words. "I always wanted kids. But that means having a relationship. I'm tired of being alone."

"You might not want to have a relationship with me when you get to know me better."

"I can't imagine that. You're a wonderful woman."

"You haven't seen me first thing in the morning before I've had a cup of coffee."

"See, something else we have in common."

She smiled.

Mart signaled the waiter. "This has been a wonderful evening Kelly. I can't tell you how much fun this was. I really hate to see it end."

"Who says it has to end?"

He studied her for a moment before handing his credit card to the waiter without looking at the check. "I don't want to rush you into anything."

She held Mart's gaze and leaned forward. "So," she whispered, her eyes locked on his, "what can I expect from you tonight?"

He signed the check. They returned to his van in silence. Before he started the engine, he leaned in and kissed her. Something about his kiss was more intense than before, more passionate, barely contained. She returned it, the heat building inside her. It had been a long time since she'd been with anyone.

Too long.

"Where do you want to go?" he gasped as he broke their kiss.

"Let's go back to my place. The boys are at my mom's until tomorrow morning." She took the chance. "You can spend the night."

He nodded. "Okay."

They were halfway to her house when he groaned. "I just remembered something."

"What?"

"I need to stop." He changed lanes and made a turn away from her house.

"What?" she asked again.

He looked at her. "I'm not prepared. Unless you are?"

Something about the look on his face started her giggling. This wasn't a problem she was used to having. "No. I haven't been on the Pill in years."

He found an open drugstore and pulled in.

"Want me to go in?" she asked.

She loved the playful glint in his eyes. "No, I can do it."

"Insert double entendre here."

He paused, then laughed and kissed her again. "Insert something."

Mart was on the lift and out of the van before she could reply. Kelly tried not to let her mind wander too much. So far, he was everything she'd ever wanted in a partner.

Then again, she'd thought that about David.

He was back a few minutes later. She noticed the plastic bag tucked under his chair. He smiled. "You know, I never get tired of that."

"What's that?"

"The clerk was obviously curious and trying not to be obvious about it. You should have seen the look on her face. I was tempted to buy a half-dozen boxes just to see her reaction."

"You're the kind who puts on dark glasses and drives up to a fast food window and asks for a Braille menu, aren't you?"

His smile broadened. "Guilty. It was even funnier when I used to have a German Shepherd, and he'd sit in the passenger seat."

***

She poured them wine while he picked a Thelonius Monk CD from her collection.

"I love this album," he said, taking a glass from her.

She sat on the sofa. "It's one of my favorites."

He turned to her, gently clinked his glass against hers. "Should I quote Bogart?"

"The beginning of a beautiful friendship?"

"Yes."

"I'm hoping it's the beginning of more than that," she admitted.

He took a sip and set the glass on the coffee table before deftly swinging onto the sofa next to her. "Me, too." He took her glass from her and gathered her into his arms. She let him set the pace.

If it was up to her, they'd already be in bed. Take it slow? Hell with that, she wanted him. She could hate herself in the morning.

He held back, and she sensed it. Halfway through the CD, she said, "Let's go somewhere more comfortable."

"Are you sure?"

"You ask me that now?"

"I don't want to screw this up--don't say it," he playfully warned before she could utter a comment.

She led the way, glad she'd made her bed that morning.

Not that it would stay made for long.

He easily transferred to her bed and patted the mattress. "Come here, beautiful." She sat next to him. He gently stroked her cheek. "You okay?"

"I'm out of practice."

He kissed her. "You could have fooled me."

He took his time, tenderly caressing her, making her feel cherished and secure--something David never did.

She cut off that line of thinking. She wanted to focus on Mart and be there with him, not make comparisons to her ex.

Their passion took over. She worked on his shirt buttons while he covered the side of her neck with kisses, melting her. She moaned softly, allowing him to gently push her to the bed while he shrugged his shirt off.

A tattoo encircled his left bicep. "What's that?" Her fingers traced the entwined vines.

"When our sled hockey team made it to the world finals two years ago, we all got them."

Something about it made him seem a little naughty, a hidden bad-boy side. She shivered with anticipation. She closed her eyes, ran her hands over him, felt the firm muscles in his arms as his hands worked under her shirt. Eventually she pulled it off, his bare skin warm against hers.

She held him tightly, not wanting to let go for fear he wouldn't be there when she opened her eyes. He propped himself on one elbow while his other hand worked on her waistband. When his fingers found their way inside, she moaned, loudly, muffled by his mouth on hers.

He sat up and, with her help, removed her pants and underwear. She heard his sharp intake of breath, and he leaned over and trailed kisses down her belly. "You're beautiful."

She twined her fingers in his hair. As he worked his way lower, she closed her eyes and moaned.

Mart took his time, sweet torture, using his lips and tongue on her until she shuddered and cried out at her release. He looked up and smiled.

"No fair going to sleep on me."

She shook her head. "Not on your life."

He shimmied out of his pants. When he tried to reach across her to the bedside table, she intercepted him. "No so fast, buster. I want to have some fun."

It was his turn to enjoy it while she teased him. He hadn't lied--his reaction was normal. She eventually let him push her away.

He kissed her. "You're absolutely amazing, you know that?"

"You're not so bad yourself."

He reached across her for a condom. She nuzzled his neck while he rolled it on.

"What do you want me to do?" she asked.

He kissed her and rolled her on top of him. "Whatever you want."

Monday, January 23, 2012
I still get comments from readers who don't realize I've been published under more than one pen name. *smile* I've been published mostly as Tymber Dalton, but I am also published as Lesli Richardson, Macy Largo, and Tessa Monroe.

As Macy Largo, I wrote "Dead Moon Rising" (contemporary, paranormal, mmf) and "Sunset Hearts" (contemporary, suspense, mmf) for the American Heroes collection for Siren-BookStrand.

As Tessa Monroe, I wrote "Sarasota Steam" (historical, cowboy, mmf) for the Lost series. If you enjoyed that one, you might enjoy "Hernando Heat" (historical, cowboy, mfm) which I wrote as Tymber Dalton.

My first book published by Siren was "Cross Country Chaos" (as Lesli Richardson). I do have more books planned for that group of characters, I just haven't had time to write them yet.

Book of the Week, EPIC finalist, "Triple Trouble" in Print, and More!

Thursday, November 19, 2009
*Happy Dancing!*

Okay, first of all, thank you to all who voted for "Love Slave for Two: Beginnings" as book of the week, because...IT WON!!! *Snoopy Dancing!*

Second big news, and yes, I'm waaaay behind updating my websites and blog... I had a total of three books make it to the annual EPIC contest, "Out of the Darkness" and "Cross Country Chaos" (as Lesli Richardson) and "The Reluctant Dom" (as Tymber Dalton). Woot!!! I won't find out until their annual conference in March if any of them win or not. (*my nail biting commences...now*)

Third... The first volume of the Triple Trouble series is NOW IN PRINT!!! Okay, but be advised!!! This is books one and two in the series on one volume: "Trouble Comes in Threes" and "Storm Warning." So You will be getting TWO books in one by buying it. It just came up, as of today the cover isn't even showing up yet.

Okay... Fourth... "Safe Harbor" is now available for pre-purchase on the Siren-BookStrand website! I don't have a final release date yet, I imagine it will be in the next few weeks, so when you buy it you won't be able to download it until the release date.

If you enjoyed "The Reluctant Dom," you will LOVE "Safe Harbor." (Without giving anything away, I can tell you less tissues will be required for reading. *LOL*)

And on a related note, Ray and Oot, who made their first appearance in "Love Slave for Two: Beginnings," also make a brief appearance in "Safe Harbor."

If you haven't picked up LSFT: Beginnings, you can get it here:

If you have a Kindle, you SHOULD be able to get one of the other formats (I don't remember which one it is) and convert it and upload it to your Kindle. I don't have a Kindle, I have a Sony and use .pdf for most things, but I know there's a way to do it. So Kindle users, you won't have to wait to read how Tyler and Thomas met. LOL

So while you're waiting for your next installment of the Lyall brothers' story, don't forget you can read my shape-shifters over at Amira Press ("Doggy Walk" and "Doggy Style") writing as Lesli Richardson, as well as my Brimstone vampires.

And if you still need more, you can get the first two installments of my scorching hot "Good Will Ghost Hunting" series from Lyrical Press (also writing as Lesli Richardson):

Thanks!!

Review Round-up

Friday, October 23, 2009
Woot! Some great reviews have come in recently!

Good Will Ghost Hunting: Hell's Bells (Book Two) (writing as Lesli Richardson): Coffee Time Romance - 5 cups!

Hell’s Bells snatches your interest from the very first page. The second in a six book series, it keeps the ball rolling with amazing intensity, and I highly recommend reading them in order. The characters are clever, witty, and all-out lovable, especially Aidan and his new man Jeff. I love a great cliffhanger, but the anticipation of book three is going to be sheer torture.

Domme by Default (writing as Tymber Dalton):
Ecataromance.com - 5 stars!

I enjoyed this story for its artistic view on BDSM, of how a man and a woman can both get what they want from their marriage without sacrificing their close relationship... Tymber Dalton writes exquisitely about this subject of BDSM and I enjoyed every emotionally moving minute of this book.

Love and Brimstone (writing as Lesli Richardson): San Diego Examiner.com - 4 out of 5!

The author’s take on the sometimes oversaturated genre of vampires is fresh and exciting. These vamps are pretty cool and ingenious. I am always willing to forgo the traditional vampire’s tale if they are written in a believable way as these ones are!

Brimstone Blues (writing as Lesli Richardson): San Diego Examiner.com - 4 out of 5!

When an author can make you get this invested into a character, then they have done their job. This reviewer loves the world created by Lesli and she needs more of it. The characters are believable and are far from 2-dimensional. The conflicting emotions are all over the place, yet it fits. Don’t let this one pass you by!

Review Round-up

Saturday, September 26, 2009
I'm behind (what's new?) in posting the great reviews I've received the past couple of weeks. Woot!!

The Reluctant Dom (writing as Tymber Dalton) received 5 canes from Bound to Review (Read full review.)

This is another emotionally charged unconventional book by Ms Dalton. It shows how many people have misconceptions about BDSM lifestyles and with just a little education they can understand. Seth starts out not knowing anything, other than the usual crap, about the BDSM lifestyle. I really enjoy books where you get to watch a character grow and learn. You get to do that with this book. ...Since this book covers a variety of aspects yet keeps it on the mild end of the spectrum, it would be the perfect book for anyone who is curious about BDSM and beginners. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

Love and Brimstone (writing as Lesli Richardson) received 4 angels from Fallen Angel Reviews (Read full review.)

Lesli Richardson never fails to deliver a well-written book that holds my attention from the beginning. Her writing voice is smooth and captivating, as are her world and character building skills.

I loved the new spin that was given on vampires in Love and Brimstone.Although they are still paranormal beings, Lesli has made them more human and approachable. The complex plot became more involved, with more twists and turns at every corner. I am so thankful that this is the first book in the series, because after over two hundred pages, I find myself still wanting much more from this story and the characters.

Anastazia faces more life-altering changes in a few days than anyone should have to endure. While she did get a bit whiny in the beginning, I think she handled it well overall. I enjoyed watching her figure out who she is and what she needs to do to become a better person...I always enjoy Lesli Richardson's work and look forward to reading the next book in this series. I just have to know what is going to happen to Anastazia and Matthias next.

Three Dog Night (Triple Trouble 3) (writing as Tymber Dalton) received a Recommended Read and 5 angels from Fallen Angel Reviews (Read full review.)

This third book is the best book yet. It is always a pleasure to get to come back to characters with whom you have fallen in love and see them moving on in their lives. There is an element of suspense in this book that suggests that Elain could be in mortal danger. The answers to her unknown background are hinted at throughout the book, keeping me on the edge of my seat and guessing at the truth.

When I tie in those little pieces of information with what was going on with Elain, I am led to believe that all may not be well for her and her mates in the next book. The ending left me groaning in agony, because it confirmed some of my suspicions, and is leaving me hanging until the next book comes out.

I do have to mention that there is a questionable scene in the book, involving Micah and Jim. Micah is a cousin to the triplets, an alpha shifter, and he has found his One. I really don't want to give away too much, but just know that some may perceive the scene as a form of rape. Tymber Dalton did a great job with the scene, making sure that we are given the viewpoint of the shapeshifters and their customs. I had no problem with the scene because it was written so well, as was the explanation that was given to Elain.

Need your vote! & 5 Cherries for "Good Will Ghost Hunting: Hell's Bells"

Saturday, August 15, 2009
Woot! The second book in my demon series, "Good Will Ghost Hunting: Hell's Bells (Book 2)" received 5 cherries from the Whipped Cream Erotic Romance review site!

And...

It's up for book of the week, but I need your vote! (Please please please! Picture massive grovelling here...)

You can find the review here:

http://whippedcream2.blogspot.com/2009/08/good-will-ghost-hunting-2-hells-bells.html

Snippet:

"I enjoyed this book a lot, even without the back story from the first book, which I have gone back and bought. I love the sense of history and myth that Lesli Richardson has woven into this series. The characters are fully developed, and I was able to feel the depth of feeling that the characters have for each other... I am waiting for the next installment to see what the next ploy Bera comes up with will be, and what happens in each of the characters’ lives. There is also a wicked sense of humor to this book, although it is dark humor."

How "real" do you like it?

Friday, July 17, 2009
I know, it's been a while since I've written. Been swamped in a good way! And on Monday, July 20th, "Hell's Bells," the second book in the Good Will Ghost Hunting series, is coming from Lyrical Press.

Today's question is pitched out to readers and writers alike, because I'm interested in hearing from both sides of the fence on this one. It's inspired by a couple of things: one, a posting on a bulletin board I haunt on occasion, and two, by two recent reviews I just received. (Good ones, thank god!)

Those of you who are familiar with my "alter ego," Tymber Dalton, know that Tymber's writings are much more intense not just erotically, but emotionally in many ways. Especially the BDSM genre writing. Now, I pride myself not just on researching a story to the best of my ability (when it's based on real-life issues/situations) but writing what is dictated by the characters, not just plotting an outline and shoving my characters into it. One writer posted that they only focus on the "darker" (meaning negative) aspects of BDSM because they couldn't imagine why someone would willingly be in the lifestyle. At least, that's the impression I got after reading their post several times and then closing my gaping jaw.

The two reviews I (I mean Tymber) just received for "Domme by Default" (Lyrical Press) were amazing, talking about how realistic the characters were, how emotional the stories were, et cetera.

I mean, I know some writers who write BDSM erotica aren't into the lifestyle at all, and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that (as long as they aren't erroneously portraying the lifestyle in a negative way). I do know a few erotica writers who are into the lifestyle, and some who aren't, but they're friends with people who are and do extensive research. And the way they write shows that veracity of emotion you don't normally see in what I've dubbed "fluffy bunny BDSM" stories where an Alpha hero spanks the heorine and it's called BDSM.

As a writer, I would be totally embarrassed if I didn't research, talk to people, learn as much as I reasonably could about a topic, have a manuscript vetted by experts in the field, on and on. As a reader, I want to trust that -- yes, EVEN in erotica -- a writer has done their fieldwork to the best of their ability and didn't just spend five minutes on Wikipedia.

Maybe I'm making too big a deal about this, but to me it's a matter of pride that if I'm writing about a submissive or Dominant's journey through a serious life issue, I want to make sure I have my story as real as it can be. Again, donning the reader's hat, I don't want to stumble across something that yanks me out of the story and proves to me the writer doesn't know their ass from their hat and have totally flown by the seat of their pants hoping no one would notice. (I've dubbed this the, "write more sex and they'll forget I flubbed it" syndrome.) It doesn't do a writer any good to pull me into a fantasy world if they drop me on my head in the middle of the story and make me scream WTF??? when I stumble across proof that they were too lazy (or maybe too embarrassed?) to do good research and preparation.

It also bothers me that a writer would use a story that erroneously portrays a lifestyle simply because of their own prejudices. Yes, it's fiction, I get that. But to me as a reader, I feel that's a breach of trust. I don't do that to my readers, I let them draw their own conclusions. There's a major difference between skewing in favor of a particular point of view and total blatant misrepresentation, in my opinion.

So readers, how much reality DO you want? Do you simply want a good yarn, or do you care if the writer flubs it on occasion? Writers, have you ever been guilty of "MSU" (making sh*t up) because you didn't do the research? And on the flip side, what do you do to research the more difficult stories you don't have any experience with? (I'm not talking vampires and outer space stories, although feel free to talk about that too.)

I'd love to hear from both sides of the fence on this. Feel free to chime in!

Brrrr! and Yippee!!

Thursday, January 22, 2009
It’s COLD! I know, you northerners are saying, “Wuss!” But we’re not used to this kind of weather down here in the Sunshine State! (And remember how you groused later when you have to pay out the wahzoo for tomatoes and other produce that comes from our state this time of year!) There is a thick layer of frost in my front yard, and mind you, I’m south of Sarasota and close to the Gulf! Brrr!

That’s okay, because I received my contract yesterday for “Triple Trouble,” the first in a new triplet shifter series for Siren-BookStrand. Let’s not forget that on Friday, “Doggy Style,” the sequel to “Dog Walk,” is being released by Amira Press! Whoo hoo!

Lot’s of good stuff!

“Out of the Darkness” came out on Monday, and I’ve already got a great review, 4 out of 5 halos from “In Pure Spirit.” http://words.inpurespirit.com/988/review-out-of-the-darkness/ They call it a “cracking paranormal thriller.” Whoo hoo!

"Dog Walk" Now Available!

Saturday, January 17, 2009

My shape-shifter short, "Dog Walk," is now available from Amira Press!!

Like any self-respecting wolf, all Ivan wanted was a morning run in the woods. Was that too much to ask? He never planned to end up in the arms of Lindsey Martinez. He certainly never intended to go home with her. And falling in love with her…definitely not part of his daily to-do list.

Now that he knows she’s the perfect mate for him, how does he break the news to her? How does he reveal his secret without freaking her out? How does he show her she’s not just leading him around by a leash…but by his heart?
--

And the sequel to this story, "Doggy Style," is scheduled for release on 1/23! Whoo hoo!!
